Wands for Little Ballerinas

Last week I received a request for 15 pink ballerina Ribbon Wands for a 5-year-old's birthday.

The party was in less than 10 days.

Luckily I'd been working on these antiqued ivory wands for a future wedding listing.

A little bit of soft satin ribbon in pink and they transformed into darling shabby chic ballerina wands.

I have to say, I'd love to see pictures of 15 little 5-year-old's in ballerina outfits waving ribbon wands. I hope no one gets hurt!

Rainbow Popsicles

I love when I get custom requests for Ribbon Wands. I'm given an opportunity to collaborate with someone to create something new.

This particular request was for a rainbow themed party. She wanted the wands unfinished so the kids could do that part themselves (what a great idea).

We tossed around a few "rainbow" ideas for the ribbon, until I found this fantastic variegated rainbow ribbon.

I love how they turned out. They look so fresh and summery - like Popsicles!

Rock Me, Amadeus

I love this Treasury created by LovelyTiffy.

It's a little Rocker, a little Classical, with enough pink to soften up the stark black and white tones of the music notes.

Rock Me, Amadeus

Thanks LovelyTiffy for including my Pink Happy Birthday Wand!

Wedding Wands - They're Done!

Some people throw Rice.

Others blow Bubbles.

And... some wave Wands!

I had a special order for these wands.

Painting and finishing 50 wands with a 3 year old and an infant certainly posed a challenge finding uninterrupted time. I eventually decided to give up sleep. These wands were finished in the wee small hours of the morning. The only thing keeping me company was the Asian Game Show channel - the digital revolution really put a cramp in my TV viewing life. We now get two channels. First, the Barstow Desert Live Feed, which is riveting television. Sometimes when the wind blows a ring attached to a wooden post flops around. And second, the Infomercial Channel by day and Asian Game Show Channel by night.

We really need to sign up for Cable.

They turned out darling and I'm sure will look great in pictures! Hopefully she'll share some of her pics!

UFO's

No, not the crop-circle-making kind of UFOs (although, I do think it's curious that fewer and fewer UFOs have been "sighted" since every phone these days is equipped with a camera).

I'm talking about Un-Finished Objects.

I have lots of UFOs sitting in my stash...too many, to be exact.

Like this little Tooth Fairy Pillow. Yep, all that's left is a little one inch section to stitch up. I guess it's a good thing The Toddler (who's now 3 - I guess that makes him too old to be a Toddler? A Preschooler, maybe?) is too little to be losing his teeth. Looks like I may have a couple of years before I need to finish this one....

Of course, there's always Ribbon Wands. I love these fun little things, but they are rather time consuming. However, as of this posting, all three are painted - now for the finish, hardware, and ribbon.

Let's not forget about the many, many crochet projects I've got lying around. This was supposed to be a scarflette of some kind, but there isn't enough yarn in this little ball to make an anklet, let alone a scarflette. So It will have to become something else.

Any suggestions? It's a very soft wool and there isn't much of it.

I guess I need to be a little less schizophrenic about my projects and start taking the time to finish what I start.

Wedding Wands

I had a request for 50 of these fun little things...

Wedding Ribbon Wands

The bride plans to use them in lieu of rice or bubbles. I'm sure with that many white ribbons waving in the air it will make for some great pictures! Hopefully she'll send me some pics to post.
Stay tuned....

Looks like I'll be busy painting this weekend!

Spring Ribbon Wands

My new love of Mod Podge has led me to this....

Ribbon Wands!

Ribbon Wands are so fun and great for any age and activity! Who doesn't LOVE a ribbon wand?

Secretly, you're picturing yourself in your backyard where nobody can see you trying to make a "Figure 8" with the ribbon. Right?

They are super fun, and colorful. I enlisted my friends girls to help with some action shots. It only took a minute and they had all kinds of great moves. They even gave them official names like "The Tornado," "Figure 8," and "The ZigZag" along with spelling their names and every letter in the alphabet.

I've got a few listed in my Etsy shop. Check it out here! Or at http://www.agirlandherneedle.etsy.com/
