Mini Egg Baskets

I know these are a little late for Easter this year, but who can resist a little egg cozy?

Moda YoYo's

I've been working on a number things in preparation for opening my etsy shop again. The New Guy is nearly 3-months-old, and I think I've started to get a grip on life. The kids and I have slipped into a nice rhythm. Which, (I hope) leaves pockets in my schedule open enough to keep up with orders.

Only one problem. These....

I discovered a Moda Charm Pack in my stash as I was doing a little rummaging for something else.

This "Nature's Chorus" Charm Pack has been sitting on the shelf for nearly a year. Until 3 days ago, I had no idea what I wanted to do with it.

It's said "necessity is the mother of invention." I disagree. I think "distraction is the mother of invention." Because that's exactly what this little pack has done. It's distracted me from finishing up other things on my "to do" list.

As for these YoYo's, I've made quite a growing stack of these tiny little things.

What will become of these, you ask? I've got a few ideas. Hopefully they'll turn out they way I imagine them in my head. And, hopefully I won't find something else to distract me from finishing this project.

Stay tuned....

Egg Baskets

Since having my little kiddos, I discovered my favorite time of day is late at night, when everyone is sleeping. No one to ask me for food. No stinky diapers to chase down and change. No fights over toys. Just peace and quiet.

I've spent the past few nights crocheting into the early morning hours. Making these little darlings...

::Egg Baskets::

I've had a slight obsession with crochet baskets lately.

I blame Ravelry.
There are so many great patterns and talented people on that site.

Look
for this particular set of Basket/Egg Caddy's in my Etsy shop soon.

I hope to be back up and running within the next week or so!

Wands for Little Ballerinas

Last week I received a request for 15 pink ballerina Ribbon Wands for a 5-year-old's birthday.

The party was in less than 10 days.

Luckily I'd been working on these antiqued ivory wands for a future wedding listing.

A little bit of soft satin ribbon in pink and they transformed into darling shabby chic ballerina wands.

I have to say, I'd love to see pictures of 15 little 5-year-old's in ballerina outfits waving ribbon wands. I hope no one gets hurt!

Rainbow Popsicles

I love when I get custom requests for Ribbon Wands. I'm given an opportunity to collaborate with someone to create something new.

This particular request was for a rainbow themed party. She wanted the wands unfinished so the kids could do that part themselves (what a great idea).

We tossed around a few "rainbow" ideas for the ribbon, until I found this fantastic variegated rainbow ribbon.

I love how they turned out. They look so fresh and summery - like Popsicles!

Stitch Obsession

I've been slightly obsessed with this weave stitch lately. I've used it in just about everything I've made this season. It's such a simple stitch (dc back loop, dc front loop, repeat), and it has a nice clean look to it.

I'm in love with all the Cowls and Infinity Scarfs I've seen this season on Etsy. Even Macy's tried to get in on the action - I passed a limp version of an Infinity Scarf hanging from one of their mannequins. Nothing comes close to the quality products you'll find in the Handmade Market!

This one is made from 100% Alpaca, and was shipped across the country as a Christmas gift. It was so soft, and warm. I love the rich color, I had a hard time giving it up.

I'll just have to make one for myself. For next year, of course. Southern California's 6 weeks of winter has come and gone!

Sneak Peek

Last week we had our first rain of the summer. Which was beautiful, of course, but combine that with 114 degree air and it was a steam-bath!

This week the Desert decided to take a break from the heat and so far we've been in the mid 80's.

It practically feels like winter!

I've been working on some chunky Cowls and Neck Cozies for Kiddos and Adults.

Little Cami was a DARLING neck cozy model - and never complained about standing in the weeds while I was trying to get the best light.

I wish I could take credit for the colorful flower pin! Elaine over at Pemberley Court makes these. She picks fantastic colors and hand stitches each one (so many made these days are glued together with a glue gun). If you're interested in seeing more check out her etsy store...

I'm off to visit family in Utah for a few days. I'm taking nearly half my yarn stash with me. It'll give my nimble fingers something to do on that loooonnng 9+ hour drive.

Look for more Cowls and Cozies in lots of colors soon!

Wedding Wands - They're Done!

Some people throw Rice.

Others blow Bubbles.

And... some wave Wands!

I had a special order for these wands.

Painting and finishing 50 wands with a 3 year old and an infant certainly posed a challenge finding uninterrupted time. I eventually decided to give up sleep. These wands were finished in the wee small hours of the morning. The only thing keeping me company was the Asian Game Show channel - the digital revolution really put a cramp in my TV viewing life. We now get two channels. First, the Barstow Desert Live Feed, which is riveting television. Sometimes when the wind blows a ring attached to a wooden post flops around. And second, the Infomercial Channel by day and Asian Game Show Channel by night.

We really need to sign up for Cable.

They turned out darling and I'm sure will look great in pictures! Hopefully she'll share some of her pics!

Wedding Wands

I had a request for 50 of these fun little things...

Wedding Ribbon Wands

The bride plans to use them in lieu of rice or bubbles. I'm sure with that many white ribbons waving in the air it will make for some great pictures! Hopefully she'll send me some pics to post.
Stay tuned....

Looks like I'll be busy painting this weekend!
